Making a Difference For My Mom

In our first screen prototype, above, we display the day, date and time prominently at the top. As dementia increases, residents often struggle with concepts of date and time, which leads to increasing frustration. We display the resident’s individual daily schedule in the center of the screen to help them navigate the day. We include sections for “tasks”, “reminders”, “notices” (from a facility), and “dinner selection”, to help the resident access information they can’t remember all in one place.

One of the best features of VestaConnect is that the platform will have flexibility for customization by caregivers to meet each resident’s specific needs. Other interactive touchscreen areas will allow a resident to make phone calls easily, get assistance when needed, and allow medical personnel secure access to the resident’s medical information in an emergency.

Today an estimated 6.8m Americans are living with Alzheimer’s/Dementia – and this number increases every day as someone is diagnosed every 3 seconds.  Most people have seen a family member suffer from this debilitating disease – including us.  Trying to make the best of a difficult situation led to the creation of VestaConnect.   

Trying to create a compassionate environment for the patient, VestaConnect was able to help our family members and caregivers provide the best possible environment throughout the different stages of this disease.
