Making a Difference For My Mom

To test out some of our company’s theories, I set up a test screen for my Mom. Mom struggles with dementia, and she finds the concept of time (day of the week, date, time of day) very difficult to understand and remember. I started off with this information at the top of her screen, along with the current outside temperature. Her daily schedule is in the center of the screen so she can follow along as each activity is highlighted at the appropriate time.

Mom is always wondering about upcoming birthdays and the meal plan for the day, so I included these sections as well. She especially enjoys the section I added with family pictures on rotation since these mean more to her than words. I’m looking forward to getting continued feedback from Mom and being able to adjust the screen and sections to best serve her needs.
